Office Administrator
Temple Beth Sholom--Park Ridge, NJ

Part Time--15 Hours Per Week

Temple Beth Sholom of Pascack Valley (TBS) is a warm Conservative, egalitarian congregation committed to exploring and expressing our Jewish identities through spiritual, educational, and social moments of communal connection. Position Summary:

You will provide administrative support for the synagogue and interact with congregants and visitors on a regular basis. You will report to the Temple President or his designee.

Key Responsibilities:

Administrative

  • Perform general office duties such as ordering supplies, maintaining office equipment, filing and retrieving documents, and maintaining records
  • Open, sort and distribute incoming correspondence, including mail and email
  • Perform administrative duties and support for the Rabbi and Temple President or his designee
  • Perform basic bookkeeping/payroll tasks including recording and tracking fees and payments
  • Assist with all High Holy Day preparations

Member Relations

  • Receive and direct telephone calls and visitors at the door in welcoming manner while maintaining security protocols
  • Receive and file membership applications, add members to distribution lists and database, and notify President of changes in membership status
  • Assist with administrative aspects of life cycle events and holidays

Communications

  • Provide communications support including proofing emails and materials, creating bulletins, and sending emails
  • Manage memorial notifications, donations, and other such communications with congregants

Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years office experience
  • Proficient with Microsoft Word
  • Proficient with QuickBooks or similar software
  • Strong verbal, interpersonal and written communication skills
  • Able to work independently with little to no supervision
  • Highly organized and able to manage time for efficiency
  • Resourceful and adapts easily to changes and ongoing needs
  • Familiarity with Jewish holidays, rituals, and customs is highly desirable
  • Able to work additional hours before the High Holidays
  • Applicant must be authorized to work in the U.S.
